Single-component silicone sealant can be directly applied to the bonding between aluminum and glass. It absorbs moisture in the air to hydrolyze, and the condensation reaction solidifies from the surface to the inside. It requires the glue room to be clean, the temperature is not lower than 23℃, and the relative humidity is not lower than 40%, otherwise it will affect the curing and reduce the strength of the adhesive layer.
Single-component silicone adhesive is divided into acidic and neutral. When the acidic adhesive is cured, acetic acid is released, which corrodes the film layer of the coated glass produced by the vacuum magnetic sputtering method for the hidden frame curtain wall and forms a mottled face. Therefore, neutral silicone structural adhesive should be used.
Before using the two-component silicone structural adhesive, an accelerator must be added to the base adhesive, and it must be fully mixed in a special glue machine and applied between the aluminum and the glass for bonding and curing. Two-component adhesives are all neutral adhesives.
Silicone structural sealant has a prominent feature. That is, there is a compatibility problem between the adhesive and the aluminum, glass, and foam strips being bonded, and a compatibility test must be done. If the compatibility test results show that the structural adhesive is incompatible with one of the three materials, even if various strength indicators meet the requirements during the bonding process. After half a year or a little longer, the silicone structural adhesive will begin to change color and deteriorate into a liquid state, thus losing its bonding ability, and the glass will fall off, causing serious consequences. Therefore, in order to ensure the long-term bonding ability of the silicone structural adhesive, a compatibility test must be done.
